With increasing awareness of indications for pacemakers (PMs) and especially implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), the number of patients with implantable devices has been growing steadily. Patients with a PM should be followed-up every 3–12 months, and those with an ICD every 3–6 months, with more frequent follow-ups as the battery approaches elective replacement.
