Pacific Control Systems, the leading provider of cloud computing services for energy management, today completes its strategic acquisition of Infotility, a pioneer of Grid Agents. The acquisition brings together two pioneers of using intelligent software agents, known as 'bots', to control and manage engineering systems. It will create a unique capability to deliver Smart Grid services in real time on a unified platform, one that has been long awaited in the industry.
Pacific Controls is the world's leading provider of remote energy management solutions for buildings and utilities, based on cloud computing and M2M technology. The company has developed intelligent Gbots to control and monitor a wide range of systems and processes in real time with no human intervention. Infotility is the leading provider of intelligent agent software for Smart Grids.
“One of our goals at Pacific Controls is to play a significant role in the growing market for Smart Grid solutions, including managed demand response services, by enabling large portfolios of smart buildings to interface seamlessly into the grid,” said Dilip Rahulan, Executive Chairman of Pacific Controls. “With the acquisition of Infotility, Pacific Controls adds the ability to expand our leadership in managed energy services and combine the power of Gbots with Infotility’s GridAgents software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform. Combining these solutions strengthens our pioneering work in using intelligent agents for energy management and brings us greater depth of experience in using bots to create Smart Grids.”
Over the last ten years, Infotility pioneered the development and launch of GridAgents, the industry's first Smart Grid software platform, and applications to support automated demand response and distributed energy management. Infotility demonstrated the first Multi-Building Automated Demand Response program (Auto-DR) in California in 2004. Through the Pacific Controls acquisition, Infotility is now positioned to reach a global customer base and can accelerate the ability to offer large-scale demand response and distributed energy-based smart grid offerings. This allows Infotility to respond to the sustainability and energy efficiency goals of commercial and industrial building owners as well as the reliability goals of utility operators.
This acquisition opens the way to transform the Smart Grid industry by creating the ‘operating system of the smart grid’. It will enable services that include next-generation demand response, as well as making it possible to integrate distributed energy and renewable into the grid using intelligent grid monitoring and control solutions.
Pacific Controls is a company providing ICT enabled managed services and converged engineering solutions for buildings and infrastructure projects globally. PCS has pioneered the technology for Smart Cities in which buildings and infrastructure are managed centrally to increase sustainability, leveraging the ICT infrastructure of telecom operators around the world.
