Cityscape Dubai 2006 was the largest business-to-business real-estate event in the world. The success has been encouraged by a buoyant Gulf real estate market backed by strong liquidity and an ability to execute projects quickly.
The value of projects planned or underway in the Gulf exceeds US$ 1 trillion, with the UAE accounting for one third of that. The region’s property and development sector has seen a continued increase in the past 6 years of investments from not only in the region but also marked significant increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from the international community.
International support at Cityscape Dubai 2006 was significant. Government and development authorities from both mature and emerging markets exhibited, looking to promote themselves to Middle Eastern investors. They included the City of Hamburg, State of Essen, Paris Region, Region Lazio, City of Rome, City of Warsaw, Krasnodar Krai Economic Development Agency (Russia), Ontario Region (Canada), Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority and the Australian Government.
The floor space for Cityscape 2006 has increased by 50% bringing the total size of this year's event to over 16,000 (net) sq metres.
